SUSAN GOERTZEN

Mrs. Susan Goertzen was born on July 7, 1939 to Peter and Gertie Hiebert of Great Deer, Sask. After some years the family moved to Borden, Sask. She was married to Jacob Goertzen on January 21, 1956 in the West Portal Mennonite Brethren Church, Saskatoon (then known as the City Mission) and together with her husband made her home in Saskatoon. God gave them three lovely children who were a tremendous help to their mother during her last illness. She loved to play the guitar or mandolin and sing with her children. On October 25, 1962 she experienced the joy of receiving Christ as her personal Saviour when both she and her husband went forward to commit their lives to Christ during a Barry Moore crusade, She was baptized and received into the West Portal Church by Rev. Wally Gripp, who was the pastor art the time. Mrs. Goertzen shared her experience with her friends and family and also sang of her joy to the church. The last song she sang with a ladies trio was "I'll be a Friend to Jesus."
