AMERICAN TOURIST FATALLY SHOT IN PALESTINE

An American tourist, Charles B. Harris, 24, of Lebanon, Neb., was shot through the head and instantly killed in Palestine last Friday as he accidentally walked into no-man’s land between the Jewish and Arab sectors of Jerusalem. The fatal shot was fired by a guard from the Arab side.

Funeral services there on Sunday were attended by the U. S. Consul General, members of the Arab Legion, YMCA officials and officers of the U.N. Truce supervision team.

Jordan authorities expressed “extreme regret” over the incident.
