— Some time ago Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Willms and Mr. and Mrs. Abe Dick of this office received information that Mrs. Franz Mathies, the grandmother of Mrs. Willms and Mr. Dick, was in dire need at her home at Landskrone, Russia. A food draft was immediately sent to the family in Russia, but just last week the report came that Mrs. Mathies had passed away one day after the gift from here arrived. The grandfather, Franz Mathies, died sometime in December, also the victim of famine and distress. Since his death Mrs. Mathies had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Klassen, who for some time has been left alone with her five children to battle for her existence, as Mr. Klassen has been deported.
