MARY REMPEL
(Mrs.) Mary Rempel, 30, of St. Catharines, Ont., passed away on January 22 after several weeks of illness. She had not been well for a number of years but since Christmas she had spent three weeks in bed and during the last week of her life she was admitted to the St. Catharines General Hospital.
Mrs. Rempel was born in Vineland, Ont., on January 20, 1939, to Henry and Susie Rempel. She lived in Vineland the first eight years of her life and then moved to St. Catharines with her parents. On April 10, 1959, she was united in marriage to Ed Rempel and to their union was born two daughters, Cheryl, on December 19, 1961, and Paula, who died a few hours after birth on April 19, 1963. Her father predeceased her in 1954.
Mary accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour in her childhood and later was baptized and joined the Scott St. Mennonite Brethren Church of St. Catharines. She served in the Good News Club for a while and later, after joining the Fairview Church, in the choir. She enjoyed singing and wished to serve through it.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Ed; her daughter, Cheryl; her mother, Mrs. Susie Rempel, and a sister, Janet; parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Rempel; three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and many friends and relatives. The funeral took place in the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church of St. Catharines on January 25. Rev. Harvey Gossen officiated.
