● Funeral services for Lloyd W. Schmidt, 42, of the Goessel community were held Saturday, July 7, at the Alexanderwohl Church. Rev. Victor Sawatzky of North Newton officiated. Mr. Schmidt died July 4 at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Schmidt, on Route 3, Hillsboro. Surviving in addition to the parents are a brother, Clinton of Route 3, Hillsboro, and one sister, Mrs. Willard Dirksen of Route 2, Moundridge.

LLOYD W. SCHMIDT
Lloyd Willard Schmidt, son of Henry M. and Bertha Weinbrenner Schmidt, was born on Oct. 18, 1930 at Hillsboro, Kan. and was received into God’s hands while in his sleep on July 4, 1973, having reached the age of 42 years. He believed in prayer and wished that when his time would come he would have an easy death. His wish was granted.
His elementary education was achieved at Steinbach School and he graduated from Goessel High School in 1949. On June 9, 1946 he was baptized by Rev. Philip A. Wedel and received into the Alexanderwohl Church, of which he was a member until his death. When opportunities arose he was always willing to serve in the church.
All through life he loved farming and helping those in need. He was a hard worker and liked to help his parents, his brother, and his brother-in-law. He loved sports, of which bowling was his favorite. Many of his happy moments were spent with his nieces and nephews, and his love for them was always apparent.
He leaves to mourn his father and mother; his sister Doris and husband Willard Dirksen and their two children, Jolene and Calvin; his brother Clinton and wife Jeraldene and their three children, Robert, Janelle, and LeRoy; uncles, aunts, and cousins. Two brothers preceded him in death in infancy.
Funeral services were held on July 7 at the Alexanderwohl Church with Rev. Victor Sawatzky officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
