Emil M. Jantz was born Sept. 12, 1884, in McPherson County, Kansas, the eighth of 11 children born to Jacob and Susanna (Redger) Jantz. | |||
On Feb. 12, 1912, he was united in marriage to Sarah J. Holdeman. They shared life together for almost 56 years. They farmed in McPherson County until 1927 when they moved to a farm near Walton, Kan. To this union five children were born. | |||
Upon accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord, he was baptized in 1922 and received as a member of the Hesston Mennonite Church, Hesston, Kan., of which he remained a faithful and interested member until his passing. | |||
He remained active in farming until seven weeks befor [''sic''] his passing. In late September he became ill, and entered Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan., on Sept. 30 with pneumonia. later his condition was diagnosed a slung cancer. He passed from this life on Nov. 10, 1967, at the age of 83 years. | |||
Surviving his passing are: his wife, Sarah; five children, Milferd [''sic'' Milford] and wife, Irene, of Walton; Winston and wife, Esther Mae, of Hesston; Kerwin and wife Rosella, of Newton; Floris and husband, Ivan miller, of Goessel; Beryl and husband, Paul Isaak, of Newton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. | |||
Funeral services were held Nov. 13, 1967, at the Hesston Mennonite Church with the pastors, Peter Wiebe and James Horsch, in charge. Burial was in the Meridian Cemetery northeast of Hesston. | |||
