Sturgis, Mich. &#8212; Festus Chupp, 24 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Chupp, drowned when the airplane he and a companion were flying crashed into Prairie Lake on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2, 1945. the young man was a good swimmer but failed to reach shore. It is thought the cause of his death may have been heart attack or injuries received in the accident.

YOUNG PILOT DROWNS IN AIRPLANE CRASH AT STURGIS, MICHIGAN

Sturgis, Mich. — Festus Chupp, 24 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Chupp, drowned when the airplane he and a companion were flying crashed into Prairie Lake on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2, 1945. the young man was a good swimmer but failed to reach shore. It is thought the cause of his death may have been heart attack or injuries received in the accident.

Funeral services were held at the local Mennonite church.
