— Funeral services were held at the Alexanderwohl church last Friday afternoon for G. M. Schmidt, who died Wednesday morning, Oct. 26, at his home, 323 Muse street, Newton. He had lived in Newton for over four years, and had been bedfast for a year and a half as a result of a stroke of paralysis. His age was 60. Surviving him are his wife, and three daughters and two sons: Hulda Schmidt of Corpus Christy [''sic'' Corpus Christi], Texas, Mrs. Robert Wiebe of Hillsboro, Mrs. John T. Reimer, Orlando Schmidt and Wallis Schmidt, all of Newton.
