Marvin F. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter T. Johnson, was born June 1, 1923, southwest of Greensburg, Kansas, and lived in the vicinity of Greensburg all his life. He attended the country school and received his eighth grade diploma in 1936. From the Greensburg high school he graduated four years later and went to Hays State College one semester. He proved to be a good student and received much praise form his teachers.

Marvin helped his father on the farm. His interests being agricultural, he also found employment with neighbors and friends, hoping soon to set out in life for himself. He complained very little. He attended church often and was preparing to become a member as soon as circumstances would permit.

Marvin's ambitious life came to an early close. he followed his country's call and entered its service in February 8, 1945. After being in the army a little over a month he became ill on Monday, march 12, and was found unconscious the next morning. His illness did not respond to the best medical care available but claimed his life on Friday, march 1`6, at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington.

He leaves to mourn Miss Doris Franzen, his bride-to-be, his father and mother, one brother, Willard; two sisters, Marjorie and Betty, of the home; the two grandfathers; three uncles with their wives; nine aunts with their husbands; and a host of other relatives and friends. One sister preceded him in death.
