Minister J. S. Shoemaker, for many years one of the most active ministers in the Am. Mennonite conference, passed away at his home on Thursday morning, February 6, after several years of failing health.
Responsible positions held by Minister Shoemaker included that of president of the Mennonite Publication Board at the time of its organization, secretary of the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, Moderator of Mennonite General Conference and a number of other duties of church-wide importance.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 9.
