NEWTON AND VICINITY

● Two long-time members of the Bethany Mennonite Church at Kingman were called by death last week. Mrs. Edna Mary Voran, 70, wife of Fred E. Voran, died July 21 at Anthony, Kan. hospital after a brief illness. She leaves her husband, three sons, two daughters and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the church on Saturday. Mrs. Lydia L. Voran, 76, wife of Henry W. Voran, died Sunday at the Kingman hospital after a year’s illness. Besides the widower, she leaves three sons, one daughter and 13 grandchildren. Services were to be held at the church Wednesday forenoon. Rev. Peter Neufeld, the pastor, officiated at both funerals.
