MARIE KRAUSE FRIESEN
Marie Krause Friesen, daughter of Rev. Peter J. and Susanna (Reimer) Krause, was born on May 1, 1887 near Goessel, Kansas. When she was six years old the family moved to Lehigh where she attended the Lehigh grade school.
On Nov. 4, 1906 she was baptized upon her confession of faith and accepted as a member of the Lehigh Mennonite church where she remained a faithful member to the time of her death. On April 3, 1910 she was united in marriage with Cornelius C. Friesen, who was also baptized on the same day as she was. With him she shared the joys and sorrows of life for 49 years and eight months.
To this union five children were born, all of whom remain to mourn the loss of their mother. On April 24, 1937, she suffered a paralytic stroke which eventually confined her to a sick-bed for over 22 years. The family moved to Hillsboro where they lived until a year ago when they made their home with some of the children for health reasons.
During all her years of illness she maintained a steadfast faith in Christ and often made mention of the fact that she was thankful for many things. this was a wonderful testimony to the family and something they will always cherish.
She passed away on the evening of Dec. 4 at the age of 72 years, seven months and three days.
She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband, Cornelius; two sons, Orlando and wife Ethel of rural Lehigh and Albert and wife Eva of Buhler; three daughters, Wilma and husband Walter Kliewer of Hillsboro, Rosella of the home, and Marietta and husband Otto Voth of rural Newton; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Anna, Mrs. Peter H. Klassen of Newton, and Theresa, Mrs. Louis McComb of Topeka; nine brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law and other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, three sisters and two brother preceded her in death.
