Lloyd S. Horst, 97, of Dayton, Va., died Oct. 7, 2010, at Bridgewater Home, where he was a resident. He was born Aug. 16, 1913, to Reuben and Frances Sweigart Horst in Pennsylvania.

On Feb. 29, 1936, he married Alice Virginia Heatwole. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 1997.

He was ordained as a Mennonite minister in 1948 and as bishop in 1957.

Survivors include six children, James D. Horst and his wife, Loretta, of Weyers Cave, Amos D. Horst and his wife, Leta, of Harrisonburg, Enos H. Horst and his wife, Deborah, of Brandywine, W.Va., Rachel Schrock and her husband, David, of Dayton, Reuben Horst and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Dayton, and Anna Miller and her husband, Gary, of Middlebury, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Martha Horst of Century, Fla.; 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Bank Mennonite Church, where he was a member.

LLOYD S. HORST

Lloyd S. Horst, 97, of Dayton, Va., died Oct. 7, 2010, at Bridgewater Home, where he was a resident. He was born Aug. 16, 1913, to Reuben and Frances Sweigart Horst in Pennsylvania.

On Feb. 29, 1936, he married Alice Virginia Heatwole. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 1997.

He was ordained as a Mennonite minister in 1948 and as bishop in 1957.
