John Kauffman, 83, of Hopedale, Ill. died Aug. 8, 1982 at Hopedale medical Complex after a month-long illness.  Funeral services were held Aug. 11 at the Hopedale Mennonite Church with Aden Yoder officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

JOHN KAUFFMANN

John Kauffman, 83, of Hopedale, Ill. died Aug. 8, 1982 at Hopedale medical Complex after a month-long illness. Funeral services were held Aug. 11 at the Hopedale Mennonite Church with Aden Yoder officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was born Aug. 23, 1898 at Minier, a son of Christian and Barbara Nafziger Kauffmann. He married Alma Litwiller on Dec. 29, 1920 near Delavan. She survives. Also surviving are five sons, Ivan of Lombard, Warren of Normal, Merle of Hopedale, Floyd of Imperial Beach, Calif., and Norman of Goshen, Ind.; a daughter, Miriam Kauffmann of Chicago, three sisters, Katie Kauffmann and Bertha Kauffmann of Eureka and Anna Litwiller of Morton; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Weldon, an infant daughter, a grandson, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

He had retired from farming in the Minier area. He was a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church.
