Heinrich Bartel was the oldest son of Leonhard and Agnetha Funk Bartel. He was born on June 23, 1878, in Marin County, Kansas, in the Brudertal community. On June 7, 1897, he was baptized by elder Wilhelm J. Ewert and became a member of the Brudertal Church. On March 5, 1903 he was united in marriage to Mary Nickel. | |||
They lived on the farm near Hillsboro, with the exception of four years during which they lived near Texline, Texas. Our parents were privileged to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary in 1928 and their golden anniversary in March of 1953. Many times they thanked the Lord for His goodness towards them. ● Funeral services for Heinrich Bartel, 88, were held Dec. 27 at the Hillsboro M. B. Church with Rev. Elbert Koontz, pastor of the Hillsboro First Mennonite Church officiating. Mr. Bartel died Dec. 23 at the Salem Home for Aged in Hillsboro. He was born in the Brudertal community and lived in the Hillsboro area most of his life. Two daughters and two sons and their families survive.
