VS Worker, 27, Dies in Arizona

KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz. (GCMC) — Tammy Hostetler, 27, a Mennonite Voluntary Service worker, died unexpectedly in her sleep during the night of Nov. 28 or the early morning of Nov. 29. She was found dead in her home Nov. 29. The cause of death is unknown.

Hostetler was from Inman, Kan., where she was a member of Inman Mennonite Church. Her parents are Shirley Hostetler of Hutchinson, Kan., and Garry Hostetler of Inman.

Hostetler taught third and fourth grade at the Hopi Mission School in Kykotsmovi. A teacher at the school noticed that Hostetler had not arrived for her morning class at her usual time, and a staff member was sent to investigate. Hostetler had served with MVS since August 1993.

The school held a memorial service Nov. 30, and a funeral service was held Dec. 5 at Inman Mennonite Church.

Hostetler had an associate degree from Hesston (Kan.) College and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Friends University, Wichita, Kan.
