BLANCHE NEUSCHWANDER

Blanche Helen Neuschwander, daughter of Ora and Lydia (Boshart) Stutzman, was born in Wood River, Neb., June 16, 1912. She died Sept. 25, 1994, at the age of 82.

She accepted the Lord at an early age and became a member of Fairview Mennonite Church, Albany, Ore. She enjoyed taking part in the women’s sewing circle and pieced many baby comforters for sales or relief.

She married Paul Neuschwander on Sept. 7, 1941, at her parents’ home near Albany. They had three sons and a daughter Oren, Lois, Larry and James. Upon their marriage they moved to the farm near Albany, where they lived for the 53 years until her death.

She was a gentle wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, with a ready smile. She enjoyed traveling, and they took many trips to visit relatives and friends. She had a natural gift for growing flowers, which she loved to share with others. She enjoyed time spent with her brothers and sisters.

Besides her husband, Paul, survivors are three sons and a daughter and their spouses, Oren and Mim Neuschwander of Albany, Lois and Greg Hershberger of Columbia, Pa., Larry and Doris Neuschwander of Albany and James and Lora Neuschwander of Albany; four sisters and five brothers, Dortha Detweiler of Albany, Gordon Stutzman of Albany, Harry Gerig of Lebanon, Mary Krabill of Shedd, Amos Gerig of Scio, Clara Krabill of Albany, Wilma Sanderson of Portland, Wayne Gerig of Albany and Percy Gerig of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
