Earl Ernest Martin, 70, longtime Nedrose Township farmer near Minot, N. D., died Aug. 21 at his farm home.
The memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 25, in the Church of the Brethren with Duane Oesch and Floyd Kauffman officiating. Burial was in the Mennonite Cemetery southeast of Surrey.
Earl was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. During his lifetime he held all church offices. He was born on Sept. 6, 1902 at Garden City, Mo. to Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Martin. In 1916 he come with his parents to Nedrose Township, Ward County, where he farmed all of his adult life.
He had served on the township board. For 30 years, he was a member at the Nedrose School Board, and had held all board offices. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, and worked in the interest of soil conservation for many years in the township.
On Jan. 1, 1925, he married Edna Yoder at Surrey. She died July 20, 1928. On Oct 8, 1933, he married Sylvia Yoder at Mylo.
