• Mrs. Helena Bestvater, 87, lifelong resident of the Goessel community, died May 1 at the Peabody Manorial Nursing Home where she had received care since January 1972. Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at the Alexanderwohl Church, with Rev. Ronald Krehbiel in charge. Mrs. Bestvater, the former Helena Franz, was born near Goessel. She married Abraham Bestvater in 1906, and they farmed near Goessel for many years. He died in 1963.
