Birth date: 1898 Oct 19

MRS. HELEN WARKENTINE

Our dear sister, Helen, was born Oct. 19, 1898, on a farm in Harvey County, east of Buhler, Kan., to Henry H. and Lena Voth Regier. Her elementary education was received at the Paris School. She spent some years as a helper at the Hoffnungsau Preparatory School and in various homes in the area.

She was married to Theodore H. Warkentine on Aug. 24, 1924, at the Hoffnungsau Church near Inman, Kan. They lived on a farm until they moved to Newton in the middle forties. Her husband passed away March 17, 1955.

Helen was baptized on May 19, 1918, at the Hoffnungsau Church. In 1946 she joined the First Mennonite Church of Newton where she remained a faithful member until her sudden passing on March 21, 1973, at the Bethesda Hospital at Goessel, Kan. Complications from the flu caused her heart to fail.

She particularly enjoyed the church sewing society work and after she became a resident of the Bethesda Home on Dec 12, 1970, she continued her sewing to the best of her ability. All of us deeply loved her for listening and sharing the good works at all times.

She leaves to mourn six brothers, John V. Regier and wife Elizabeth of Burrton, Kan. Henry V. Regier and wife Emma and Jacob V. Regier of Buhler, Ed. V. Regier and wife Susie of Inman, Art V. Regier and wife Elva of McPherson, Albert V. Regier and wife Martha of Moundridge; two brothers-in-law, John K. Ratzloff of Buhler and Arnold Kim of Newton.

Two sisters, Sarah, (Mrs. J. K. Ratzloff) and Marie (Mrs. Arnold Kim) and one sister-in-law (Kathryn Regier) preceded her in death.
