Estate Gift Received

The will of the late Lyndon P. Deckert, Burdett, provided that Bethel College share in his estate. Settlement recently resulted in a $9,898.45 gift to Bethel College. . Deckert was a 1920 graduate of the Bethel Academy and received his B.A. degree here in 1926. In recent years a number of his nieces and nephews also attended Bethel, as had several of his brothers and sisters earlier.

A bachelor, Deckert had farmed in the Burdett area for many years. He was a member of the Bergtal Mennonite Church at Pawnee Rock and had a lifetime interest in the church and its agencies including the colleges.

"As a graduate of Bethel, Mr. Deckert continued through his life to see the value of a church college," stated president Harold Schultz. "His will reflected this interest and this gift to Bethel will be a permanent memorial to his life and interest in Christian education."
