JACOB H. MARTENS

Jacob H. Martens of Swift current, Sask. passed away on August 19. He was born on July 25, 1904 in Kharkov, Russia and immigrated with his parents to Main Centre, Sask. three months later. While attending Herbert (Sask.) Bible School, at age 18 he experienced new life in Christ on the basis John 8:3 6. The same year he was baptized and joined the Main Centre MB Church. On June 28. 1928 he married Susie Nickel of Dalmeny. Sask. They farmed at Main Centre for 45 years and retired to Swift Current in 1973. He loved farming and church life and taught Sunday school for 23 years. He also served as church treasurer, deacon, and committee member at various times. In Swift Current he volunteered for construction of the Bridgeway Community Church. He is survived by his wife Susie; four sons and wives: Elmer and Phyllis of Fresno. CA.
