HENRY KLASSEN

Henry Klassen died Sept. 14, 2007. He was born Dec. 17, 1923 in Gladyen, Russia to Jacob and Lena Klassen. The second of 13 children, he was forced to quit school at 13 to help feed his family during the Great Depression, after moving to Manitoba. Henry committed his life to Christ and was baptized at 15 in the Mennonite Brethren Church. He attended Winkler Bible School, where he developed a life-long love of reading and learning. In 1950, he married Helen Suderman and farmed for 37 years, serving continuously in church leadership. He was a man of wisdom, integrity and strong values, respected for his quiet voice of reason. He is mourned by Helen; children Alvin (Welma), Dennis (Nancy), Pamela (Waldo) Pauls, and Linda (Ray) Friesen; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings. The funeral was Sept. 19 at Port Rowan (Ont.) MB Church.
