MARY REMPEL

Mary Rempel died Oct. 19. She was born March 21, 1911 in Hochfeld, Russia to Jacob and Anna Martens. At 12, she and her family immigrated to Canada. One night Mary couldn't sleep, saying, "I'm afraid the Lord will come and I'm not ready." Her mother then had the joy of leading Mary to the Lord. Mary was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1930. She married Henry Rempel in 1939 in a double wedding. Mary enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She also enjoyed cooking, painting, handiwork and sewing. Quilts became a specialty during her retirement years. Mary loved the Lord and valued his Word, church attendance, Bible reading, prayer and supporting missionaries. Predeceased by Henry; 2 sisters; 1 son-in- law; she is mourned by children Jac (Gladys), Alvina Irons, Vic (Marilyn); 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 sister; 1 brother. The funeral service was Oct. 22 at Herbert (Sask.) MB Church.
