Founder of Pretzel Business Dies
Ephrata, Pa. — Henry H. Martin, 77, a lifetime resident of this area and founder of the Martin Pretzel Bakery at Akron, died Jan. 31 at the Ephrata Community Hospital after an illness of six months.
Mr. Martin founded the pretzel business in the late 1930s and continued to operate the bakery until his retirement to the Fairmount Nursing Home about a year ago.
During World War II he served at CPS Camp No. 45 near Luray, Va.
A member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, he is survived by 37 nieces and nephews.
