<center><h3>GEORGE SPENST</h3></center>
 
George Spenst was born on June 16, 1901, in Waterloo Township to Peter and Kathryn Veer Spenst.  He died on Oct. 24, 1972.  He was saved at the Munich, N. D. church and was baptized there at the age of 19 years by Rev. N. F. Toews.
 
On Sept. 23, 1923 he was married to Mary Toews, daughter of Isaac and Mary Wiens Toews, at their farm home by Rev. N. F. Toews.  They were married 49 years.
 
He is survived by his wife, of Langdon, N. D.; three sons Erwin of Roseburg, Ore., Ralph of Olsen, N. D. and Arthur of Langdon; one daughter, Mrs. Martin Toews (Magdaline) of Wolf Point, Mont.; five brothers, Jake of Langdon, John P. of Salem, Oregon, Henry of Olsen, N. D., Abe of Miami, Manitoba, and William of Winkler, Manitoba; four sisters, Mary Shrader of Langdon, Katie, Mrs. Julius Toews of Winkler, Man., Elizabeth, Mrs. Henry Friesen of Homewood, Man., and Annie, Mrs. Jake Heinrichs of Gretna, Man.; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
 
He was active in the church as a Sunday school teacher for many years and also served on the church board.  He loved music and will be especially remembered for playing his violin and singing in the home.  His Bible was always open and he studied and read it often.  He prayed for his loved ones daily and will be greatly missed by the family, relatives and friends.
 
Funeral services were held Oct. 28, 1972 at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Langdon.  The pastor, Dietrick Unruh, and Rev. Wilbur Schmidt officiated.
