Retired Farmer, 88, Called by Death

Metamora, Ill. — Funeral services for Manuel D. Schertz, 88, a native of Woodford County and prominent retired farmer, were held Nov. 21 at the Metamora Mennonite Church. He died Nov. 19 at the Eureka Hospital.

Born Dec. 31, 1881, he farmed near here most of his life, moving to Washington 24 years ago.

Survivors include his widow, the former Mary Yoder; a daughter, Mrs. John Oyer of Goshen, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Peter Schertz and Mrs. Walter Smith of Eureka, and Mrs. Walter E. Yoder of Goshen, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
