Esther Mae Thieszen, 92, of North Newton, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at Kidron Bethel Village. She was born April 1, 1931 in Goessel, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob G. and Katharina (Woelk) Klassen.

Esther was baptized by P. P. Buller on May 25, 1947 at the Goessel Mennonite Church.

She graduated from Goessel High School and later received a degree from the Bethel Deaconess Nursing Program as a Registered Nurse.

Esther specialized in geriatric nursing and worked as the Director of Nursing at various facilities throughout Kansas, Minnesota and Indiana.

She was united in marriage to Harold D. Thieszen on September 18, 1953 at the Goessel Mennonite Church. They were married almost 70 years.

Esther was a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton.

Esther is survived by her husband, Harold of the home; son, Jon (Maurine) Thieszen of Lake City, IA; daughters Kathryn Thieszen of Kansas City, MO, and Barbara (John) Thiesen of Newton; grandchildren, Patrick (Ashley) Thieszen and their children, Evelyn and Jack; Erin (Brawley) Blair and their children, Olivia and Ethan; and Andrew Thiesen (Annjela Abbey).

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ella Deines; brother, Walter Klassen; and infant brother, Roline Klassen.
