• Mrs. Hulda S. Rich, 67, of North Newton died Monday morning at Bethel Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Rich, the former Hulda Penner, was the wife of Willis Rich, formerly on the staff of Bethel College and for some years confined to the home due to multiple sclerosis. Also surviving are their children, James of Wichita, Mrs. Mary Lou Goertzen and Mrs. Carol Andreas, both of Berkeley, Calif., and Mrs. Martha Stone of Chicago; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Albert J. Penner of Vermont; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry J. Pankratz of Mt. Lake, Minn. and Mrs. Earl W. Unruh of Cleveland, Ohio. A private service for family members will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 Friday evening in the Bethel College Church, of which she was a member. Rev. Esko Loewen and Rev. John Esau will officiate. A memorial fund has been established at Bethel College.

• The memorial service for Mrs. Hulda S. Rich, 67, held last Friday evening at the Bethel College Church, was largely attended. Mrs. Rich died May 22 after a long illness. The service was conducted by Rev. John Esau and Rev. Esko Loewen, and included the singing of a number of hymns chosen by Mrs. Rich before her death, a cello duet by Mary and Carolyn Rich, and a meditation on the life of his sister by Rev. Albert J. Penner of South Newfane, Vt. Rev. Penner is a former pastor of the Broadway Tabernacle Church, the only Congregational church on Manhattan Island in New York, and before his retirement serve as president of the conference of Congregational churches in Boston, Mass. Following the service, relatives and friends greeted members of the family in Fellowship Hall. Mr. Rich, confined to the home by illness for some years, was able to attend the service and fellowship hour.
