Berne, Ind. — Word was received here that Mrs. Caroline (Burkhalter) Zook, 85, a native of this community, died Sept. 10 at a nursing home in Los Angeles, Calif.

Mrs. Zook attended Bluffton College and later the Indiana University extension school in Fort Wayne. Before her marriage to William Zook in 1922 she taught school at Tuba City, Ariz., and served as a Mennonite missionary to the Hopi Indians. Preceding her in death were her husband and an infant daughter. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Baumgartner of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Mary Springer of Berne.
