Accidental Discharge Of Gun Fatal to Girl
Meyersdale, Pa. — A 15-year-old Amish girl died in Meyersdale Community hospital about two hours after being hit in the upper back by the accidental discharge of a gun.
Members of the Andy S. Zook family were working in the barn and milkhouse when Barbara took the loaded gun from a bale of hay and moved it to another location. Later her mother placed it on top of the milk cooler, and when a son opened the cooler lid the gun went off, striking Barbara. She was nearing her 16th birthday.
