JOHN PETER MARTENS
John Peter Martens died June 30. He was born Mar. 2, 1911 in Alexan- derwohl, Molotschna, Ukraine to Peter P. and Helena Martens. In 1925 they immigrated to Coaldale, Alta. At 19 he was converted through a message by missionary Frank Wiens . He was baptized in 1930. He attended Bible school. He was briefly in a CO camp. He married Sara Klassen in 1946. They lived in Arnold, B.C He farmed and trucked . She died in 1971 . He married Emilie Bartel Sommerfeld in 1971 .They moved to Clearbrook, B.C in 1973. He sang in the choir and did deacon work in the Clearbrook MB Church. They en- joyed travelling. Predeceased by Sara, daugh- ter Mary Simpson, 4 siblings, he leaves Emilie; daughters Viola Klassen, Beverly Schroeder, Trudy Janzen; 9 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; 2 sisters; 1 brother. The service was July 5 in Clearbrook MB Church.
