• Funeral services were held at the Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro on Dec. 26 for Herman Penner, 60, a native and lifelong resident of the Hillsboro community. He died at Salem Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 22. Although he had suffered from a heart condition for several years, his death was unexpected. Mr. Penner was a farmer and stockman in the Johannestal community most of his life, and since his retirement had been employed at Tip Top Dairies. Survivors include his widow, the former Dorothy Harms of the Grace Hill community east of Newton; sons Darrell of Newton, Ralph of Westville, Ind., and Robert of the home; three sisters and two brothers. | |||
