Two internationally recognized experts, one in the field of nuclear science and the other in the field of medicine, have been recently taken in death.
At Goettingen, East Germany, Prof. Otto Hahn, the man who first split the uranium atom and opened the way to the creation of the atomic bomb, died at the age of 89, Hahn loathed the bomb.
At Rochester, Minn., Dr. Charles W. Mayo was killed in an auto accident at the age of 70. Dr. Mayo, besides being known as an outstanding surgeon, had also gained prominence as an educator, author and United Nations alternate delegate.
