Schmidt, 67, lifelong resident of the Galva community, died May 14 at the Bethesda Hospital, Goessel.  The funeral was conducted Friday forenoon at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church by Ministers Jonas B. Koehn and Herman Nightengale.  Mrs. Schmidt was the former Dena Nightengale.  Besides her husband, she leaves seven sons, five daughters, 29 grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters.  She was the mother of Orman Schmidt and sister of Mrs. Ida Decker, both of Newton.
