● Otto R. Schmidt, 82, a native of the Moundridge community and resident of Newton for 67 years, died Saturday at the Bethel Home for Aged. Years ago Mr. Schmidt operated a harness shop in Newton, and later owned an automotive equipment business. For a number of years before his retirement he was a traveling salesman. Surviving are his widow, the former Matilda Thimm; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Edythe) Magnuson of Chapman, Neb., three grandchildren, one brother and one sister. He was a member of the Bethel College Church. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Draper Funeral Home, with Rev. Russell Mast officiating.
