Jacob Brown †
(Clearbrook, B.C.)

Jacob Brown †
(Clearbrook, B.C.)
It has pleased Heavenly Father to call brother Jacob Brown home completely unexpectedly. On the way back from a trip to Ontario, the Brown brethren stopped in Winnipeg to pay a few visits. There the brother suffered a heart attack and was immediately taken to the Winnipeg General Hospital. There he received the best treatment and care that doctors can provide for this disease. The heavenly Father, however, had decided to call him home. On July 19th, he laid down his walking stick and was allowed to enter into eternal rest.
The funeral service was held on July 26th at the Clearbrook M.B. Church. Our pastor, brother Herman Lenzmann, began with prayer. After reading John 11:25-27, he welcomed the congregation and addressed words of comfort to the bereaved family. The choir of older brothers and sisters sang the song: "Seliges Land” [Blessed Land]. Brother Heinrich Friesen based his message on 2 Cor. 1:3-4. He emphasized the great compassion of God and the rich consolation that the Lord bestows on us through His Word. He read in the German language the life story of the deceased. The congregation sang the song, “Ein herrlicher Retter” [A glorious Savior]. For a further message, brother Lenzmann took his text from Col. 3:4. He emphasized that the greatest thing that a person can experience is to be saved, cleansed and justified before God through Jesus, our Saviour. Many accept this salvation, some reject it. The decision for eternal salvation must be made in this life. Brother Brown has accepted it and may now behold the Lord Jesus in glory. Brother Lenzmann read the life story in the local language.
After the choir sang the song, "The Solid Rock," brother Heinrich Friesen gave the closing prayer. After the viewing, the burial followed at Hazelwood Cemetery.
