MRS. NETTIE FAST

(Mrs.) Nettie Fast (nee Nickel) of Dalmeny, Sask., was born in Alexandertal, Russia on October 4, 1891. She passed away in Saskatoon on August 2 following a short illness.

Her parents loved the Word of God, and through morning and evening devotions the Holy Spirit began to speak to her until she accepted the Lord at the age of nine. In 1902 she came to Canada with her family, living for one year in Winkler, Man., before moving to Springfield, Sask. She was baptized in 1905 and received into membership at the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church. The family moved again to a farm four miles outside of Herbert, Sask., in order to be near the church and school.

She married Peter B. Fast on November26,1911, and the couple homesteaded on a farm seven miles from: Dalmeny, Sask., where they experienced the blessing of God. Ten children were born, and all were saved at an early age.

She and her husband moved into the town of Dalmeny in 1947, and when their health began to fail, they took up residence in the Central Haven Senior Citizen's Home, before moving into the Personal Care Home.

Predeceased by a daughter, Mary, and one son-in-law, she is survived by her husband, Peter; six daughters, Mrs. A. (Linda)Andres, Mrs. R. (Susie) Richter, Mrs. L. (Leona) Loewen, Mrs. R. (Martha) Labun, Mrs. H. (Ann) Friesen, and Mrs. E. (Betty) Schmidt; three sons, Peter, Edwin and Arno; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and relatives.
