MRS. LENA THIESSEN

(Mrs.) Lena Thiessen of Clearbrook, B.C., passed away on December 7, 1977. She was born on September 12, 1899 to the Jacob Penners in Felsenbach, Russia. On June 23, 1919 she was married to Abram Thiessen by Rev. Henry Bergen. In 1924 she received Christ as her personal Saviour and three years later was baptized, becoming a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

The Thiessens emigrated to Canada in 1927 with three children. Four more children were born in Canada. They lived in various places in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before settling in Clearbrook in 1966. Here their last years were blessed in the close fellowship of the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church. Mrs. Thiessen was hospitalized on November 28 and died nine days later from a heart attack. She was predeceased by her husband Abram in 1973, an infant son in 1920 and a son in 1976.

Her passing leaves to mourn six children: (Mrs.) Tiena Rempel, Helen, Nettie (Mrs. Jake) Klassen, Mary (Mrs. Peter) Derksen, Henry and his wife Lena, Ike and his wife Joanne; a daughter-in-law, Lillian; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
