JOHN SCHMIMPKY

John Schimpky of St. Catharines, Ontario, passed away on July 15 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Borden, Sask. on June 3,1904 to Rudolph and Marie Schimpky and grew up on a farm there. While he was in his early twenties, both his parents were called to glory and he and his sister were left to keep the family farm. In 1939 he was married to Tena Neufeld. They moved to Ontario and through her faithful witness he was led to commit his life to the Lord. He was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren church in 1948. His wife Tena passed away in February, 1963. In September, 1964, he was joined in marriage to Agatha Boese. They especially enjoyed serving in the Grantham MB Church of St. Catharines.

He was first diagnosed as suffering from cancer early in 1976. He leaves to mourn, but with the hope of meeting again, his wife Agatha; his daughter, Joyce, and son Rudy and wife Kathy; three grandchildren; a brother, Herman, of Abbotsford, B.C ., and a sister (Mrs.) Lydia Thiesen of Vandalia, Ohio. The funeral was held at the Grantham MB Church on July 18 with Aaron Schmidt and Peter J. Dick ministering and the Messengers Quartet singing.
