• Head injuries suffered in a highway accident on Sept. 25 proved fatal to Manley Kent Ewert, 17, who died Saturday morning at Bethel Hospital without regaining consciousness. He and two companions, all students at Berean Academy, Elbing, were returning to Elbing from Whitewater when their car overturned. Funeral services for Manley were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church here, with Rev. Jerry L. Peaster of Elbing, Rev. F. W. Adell of Newton and Rev. Vernon Duerksen of Omaha, Neb. officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery of the Elbing Missionary Church, of which the youth was a member.
