Burns Prove Fatal To Retired Teacher

Topeka, Ind. — Burns suffered a week earlier in an accident at her home here proved fatal to Miss Elizabeth Ann Kauffman, 72, who died Oct. 18 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Miss Kauffman, a retired school teacher, was putting pies in the oven when her bathrobe became ignited. She was able to extinguish the flames with a bedspread.

She was a lifetime resident of this community and a member of the Topeka Mennonite Church, where the funeral was conducted Oct. 21 by Rev. Willard A. Schrag.

Survivors include three brothers, Iris, with whom she lived, Rolla and Harry, also of Topeka.
