Former Mt. Lake Doctor And MCC Worker Dies
Mt. Lake, Minn. — Dr. Peter J. Pankratz, 56, former physician here and a medical missionary in Taiwan for three years, died in a Los Angeles, Calif. hospital on Jun 10. Death was due to a kidney infection and complications.
The body was returned here and funeral services were arranged for Sunday, June 17, at the Bethel Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.
Dr. Pankratz practiced medicine here from 1934 to 1956. In March of that year he and his wife were commissioned for service in Taiwan. Dr. Pankratz was in charge of the MCC hospital at Milum. Their service was under the MCC and the General Conference Board of Missions.
Dr. and Mrs. Pankratz returned to the United States in December 1959 and since then he had practiced at Anaheim and Fullerton, Calif.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters and their families; his father, Jacob Pankratz of Mt. Lake; one sister and two brothers.
