Although in failing health for some years, the immediate cause of death was a stroke of paralysis. He and Mrs. Liechty, the former Sarah Gilliom, had planned to observe their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30.

Mr. Liechty was born near here in 1878. In earlier years he was in the hardware business in Monroe. He served as treasurer of Adams County from 1936 to 1940. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church, where the funeral services were conducted on Oct. 23.

Surviving in addition to his widow are one son, five daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Retired Auctioneer Dies at Age 85

Berne, Ind. — Jeff [Jephtha] Lichty [sic Liechty], 85, well-known auctioneer and real estate agent here over a long period of years, died Oct. 21 at the age of 85.

Although in failing health for some years, the immediate cause of death was a stroke of paralysis. He and Mrs. Liechty, the former Sarah Gilliom, had planned to observe their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30.
