KANSAS RETIRED FARMER DIES

Greensburg, Kan. — Ely Schmidt, 73, who operated a farm south of Greesburg [sic Greensburg] from 1919 until his retirement in 1956, died at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital on Oct. 6 after a four-month illness.

He was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church, where funeral services were to be held Oct. 9.

Survivors include the widow, Mary, four daughters, three sons, 18 grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
