• At least five members of Reno County Mennonite churches were called away in death last week. Funeral services for Henry B. Thiessen, 68, retired farmer of Inman who died Thursday in McPherson, were held at the Zoar Church on Saturday afternoon. Services for Ben P. O. Graber, 81, who died Tuesday at Anthony Hospital, were held at the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church. On Sunday afternoon services were held at the Bethel Church near Inman for Sarah Fehdrau, 82, who died May 1 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. Another funeral was held at the same church on Tuesday of this week as services were held for Edward Ratzlaff, 59, mill employee of McPherson who died there May 3. R. A. (Rudy) Gaeddert, 63, employed in a Hutchinson garage, died as result of a heart attack at his home in Hutchinson of Saturday. The funeral was Tuesday afternoon at the Hutchinson First Church. | |||

MRS. SARA FEHDRAU
Mrs. Sara Fehdrau (nee Androes), daughter of John and Helena Harder Androes, was born May 3, 1889 [sic 1880] in the village of Lichtenau, South Russia. In 1892 at the age of 12 she immigrated with her parents to the United States. They settled on a farm southeast of Inman, Kan. Here she received her elementary education.
She was baptized upon her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by Elder Peter Balzer at the Hoffnungsau Church on May 22, 1899. In 1920 she transferred her membership to the Bethel Church near Inman. Kan. She was united in marriage to Jacob Fehdrau on Nov. 15, 1900 with whom she shared joys and sorrows for over 49 years. Eight children were born to this union. In 1925 they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
On Oct. 5, 1950 our father was taken in death. After his passing mother continued another nine years in her home. Later, because of failing health she was admitted to the Pleasant View Home on Sept. 9, 1959.
Our mother enjoyed good health until the declining years of her life. During the past months her health was failing rapidly, and she was taken to the Mercy Hospital of Moundridge, Kan. on April 13. She passed away to her eternal reward at12:32 p.m. on May 1, 1963, reaching the age of 83 years, less two days.
Those who mourn her death are eight daughters and their families: Eva, Mrs. John D. Regehr; Helen, Mrs. Geo. T. Regehr; Mary, Mrs. Frank Neufeld; Esther, Mrs. Aaron Regehr; Hilda, Mrs. Dietrich Ediger — all of Inman; Sara, Mrs. George Pauls of McPherson; Dora, Mrs. Herman Schierling and Agnes, Mrs. Clayton Thomas, both of Hutchinson; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Helena Buller of Newton, and many other close relatives and friends. Her husband and one grandchild preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted in the Bethel Church by the pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel who was assisted by Rev. Dietrich Friesen and Rev. P. T. Neufeld. Interment was made in the South Inman cemetery on May 5. — The Family.
