Newton, Kan. &#8212; The Board of Missions of the General Conference Mennonite Church has received a bequest of $10,252 from the estate of the late Helen Bestvater of Newton, it was been announced by Wm. L. Friesen, conference treasurer.  The money is designated for the foreign mission program.
Born in Henrikow, South Russia, in 1878, Miss Bestvater came to the Newton area in 1893.  She resided on a farm near Newton with a brother and three sisters. 
After some years of failing health, she entered the Bethel Home for Aged here one month before her death, which occurred in October 1961.  Three brothers survive her.

Bequeaths $10,000 For Foreign Missions

Newton, Kan. — The Board of Missions of the General Conference Mennonite Church has received a bequest of $10,252 from the estate of the late Helen Bestvater of Newton, it was been announced by Wm. L. Friesen, conference treasurer. The money is designated for the foreign mission program.

Born in Henrikow, South Russia, in 1878, Miss Bestvater came to the Newton area in 1893. She resided on a farm near Newton with a brother and three sisters.
