MRS. HELEN THIESSEN

(Mrs.) Helen Thiessen was born on June 5, 1926 at Carnduff, Saskatchewan to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schellenberg. In 1941 she moved to Ontario where she married Irvin Thiessen in 1942. She was baptized upon her confession of faith in a Baptist church in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1943 and later attended the Associate Gospel Church there. In 1976 she and her husband decided to transfer their memberships to the Grantham Mennonite Brethren Church in St. Catharines and they were both accepted as members by the church board.

Mrs. Thiessen passed away on June 6, the day she was to give her testimony to the church and be officially accepted as a member. A funeral service was held in the Grantham Church on June 9, with pastor Aaron Schmidt officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Irvin; a son, Richard; three daughters, Elaine (Mrs. Norm) Schmidlin, Heather (Mrs. Ron) Watson, and Sandra (Mrs. Peter) Russell; six brothers, Jacob, Peter, John, David, Bill and Hank; four sisters, Mary (Mrs. Jim) Cully, Tina (Mrs. Gordon) Bickle, Anne (Mrs. Dave) Fehr, and Esther (Mrs. Harold) Harnum; six grandchildren; and other friends and relatives.
