— Mrs. David Suderman and daughters Anna Elizabeth and Judy Lynn returned this week to San Diego, Calif., having been called here due to the death of Mrs. Suderman's father, J. W. Claassen of Hillsboro. The funeral services were held at the Mennonite Brethren church there on Aug. 4. The Suderman family is spending a year in California while Prof. Suderman engages in special study under a fellowship award.

SERVICES AT HILLSBORO FOR RETIRED FARMER

Hillsboro, Kans. — Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Brethren church here Tuesday, Aug. 4, for J. W. Claassen, 77, well known retired farmer and resident of this vicinity since the 1880’s. He died at his home in Hillsboro July 31 after a three year illness.

Mr. Claassen was one of the pioneer settlers of the Ebenfeld community near here and served as a deacon in the Ebenfeld M. B. church. He leaves his wife, seven children, 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
