On June 25, 1949 she married Victor F. Thiessen. One daughter and four sons were born to them. Both were teachers, and before settling down in Abbotsford, B.C. in 1969 and joining the South Abbotsford Mennonite Brethren Church there, the Thiessens taught in Gretna, Man.; Abbotsford, and Langley, B.C.; Ghana, West Africa; and Trinidad, West Indies. She was known as a wonderful wife. mother and hostess, who made longlasting friendships and a spiritual impact on many lives.

On May 9, after spending the last three weeks at home where she received loving care from her family and friends, she passed into the presence of the Lord. Man.; three brothers, George, Henry and Ernie; three sisters, Lini (Mrs . Ted) Friesen, Susan (Mrs. Virgil) Miller and Frieda (Mrs. Hudy) Klassen; and many relatives and friends.
